The closest campground to downtown Ouray, this place will be my go to when visiting Ouray in the future. There is a shortcut to hot springs via a bridge over the Uncompahgre River that makes this location even better. They have a variety of sites available, including sites right next to the river. Sites not next to the river are very affordable for the area.

There are no bad views in Ouray. If you want an even better view you can pay extra for a full hookup site right next to the river.

Two blocks off of main street it is easy to get to and find.

They have sites that are very cheap for this area. You can pay extra for better views but the price is still inline for the area.
Verdict: Is It Worth It?
This will be my go-to when in the area going forward. The proximity to downtown Ouray makes this impossible to pass up. I did pay extra for a river view and have no regrets in doing so. Family owned and operated for 60 years also makes me feel better about supporting a small business. Bonus: the perimeter trail goes through the campground, so if this is on your agenda, you can start and end from your site. Note that there are no fire pits if that is important to you, but there are charcoal grills at the sites. Also note that they are only open 5/1-10/15 yearly. Finally, they only accept reservations by phone, so it is important to call early if you are particular about your dates and site.
